Hey, bloggers at school we have been doing some Matariki art,
This is mine
This is a printing of the Matariki star cluster; also known as the 7 sisters, Matariki is celebrated on the 2nd of July in 2021. Matariki is the start of the Maori new year and it symbolises new life. The print represents the Matariki stars at the top and Mt cook at the bottom. One thing I could have done better is to be more careful when I was doing my printing so my mountains would come out clearer. If you want to make this here are the steps.
1. You draft your art on a piece of paper remember to do it in reverse so when you print they come out the right way.
2. With a pen draw your design onto the foam, You have to make sure you didn't dent your foam if you do then it will show up in your print.
3. Chose your colours and if they want to fade or not, you roll the paint over foam all the colours you want, make sure the ink roller is practically drenched in ink if you want it to show up (otherwise it will look a bit like mine).
4. Once your pant is on the roller press it on paper and use a dry roller to the back and roll to get all the ink on the paper.
5. Peel the paper off the foam and you're done!!!
I did 2 pieces of artwork and thought my second one looked best, if you want to make a frame you need to get an A3 piece of card and cut out the size of an A4 piece of paper. Then stick it to the artwork.
Next time I would I would also put more paint and apply more pressure on the foam so that I wouldn't get white dots. Have you ever foam printed before? Did you enjoy it? I really liked doing this. What colours would you choose? I also liked the coloured blue and purple.
Have a good day bloggers!!
