Travels Within Candesia

Hey bloggers, I can't believe another week of online school has passed!

Do you like online school or normal school better, I like a normal school because you get to see your teachers and friends actually have social interaction.

Anyways this week Monday and Tuesday were to create a pick a path if you don't know what that is a story on google forms and you chose what to do and you either die or survive. Ours was about 2 people when they get stuck in a magical land and you have to try and survive, hint the most logical option is not always the one that makes you survive, (you might die). The main characters are called Casper and Alice and Drexuis (he comes in a bit later in the story).

To do the pick a path I made with my friend Sophia,

It is called the travels within Candesia

Have a really good Friday and weekend, stay safe and happy in your bubbles!!

Catch ya later bloggers.

Scary Sci -fi

This in literacy we have been doing genre studies this week our main focus was sci-fi doing and we were doing workshops everyday here is a little insight on what we have learnt about sci-fi

Science fiction or commonly known as sci-fi is a genre, The term science fiction was popularized, if not invented, in the 1920s and contains many sub-genres such as

Dystopia - utopia

Time travel

Parallel universe

Fear of the unknown

Invasion

Just to name a few.

Other parts that are Related to sci-fi are technology and sci-fi movies technology is way against and more into the future, there a very flash massive cities with the Rich in tall big buildings and the not so fortunate hidden away and little suburbs.  other conventions include robots.  a little story behind this is man makes a robot turns out to be smarter than man robot turns on the machine and takes over the earth. There's always somebody that looks very sinister and the other one who is going to destroy the earth or turn around and betray everybody.

The task for that day was to write a short science fiction story, here is my story,

My story was on the the big blue picture in the background. I hope you liked it.

Hope you are safe and happy,

Olivia

Horror Story (and poster)

 Hey bloggers,

A couple days ago all of New Zealand went into lockdown and today is the first day of online school for us at marshland. One of my tasks today was to write a one-page story about ghosts under the genre of horror. To go along with this our second task had to be a poster to promote the story. Mine was about a boy named Toby Richardson, during he is running from something but in the end, it catches him. For maths, we had some word problems given by our maths teacher.

Here is my poster, the story is called tales from the dead

I made this poster on Canva, it was a template and I thought it fit with the theme of horror. Canva is a really cool platform where you can create anything, you can use a template or just have free rein over all the graphics, I have been using Canva for a couple years now and it has never disappointed me, it makes school projects way easier.

Aladdin production 2021

 Hey bloggers,

This week we did a production it was the production of, Aladdin we have been working on this for about 12 weeks and have taken time out of our lunches and weekends to do this, we started this in about week 3 of the term to and it has been a long time coming, there are many songs and lines we had to learn.

I played the part of Isir along with my best friends in the production they consisted of rajah, mannal and jasmine. To make this clear My role was one of jasmine royal loving and support ladies. My costume was dusty pink flowy pants with a short flowery pink embroiled shirt. My makeup was pink with sparkles along my cheekbones and eyelids.

I along with manal and Rajah had a song it was called these palace walls it was a really cheesy song about going out in the world and finding love it was really chessey , but it was really.

Here is a photo of me and Jasmine, Mannal and rajah

In the order

- Rajah- Me (Isir), Mannal, Jasmine

Matriki artwork

Hey, bloggers at school we have been doing some Matariki art,

This is mine

This is a printing of the Matariki star cluster; also known as the 7 sisters, Matariki is celebrated on the 2nd of July in 2021. Matariki is the start of the Maori new year and it symbolises new life. The print represents the Matariki stars at the top and Mt cook at the bottom. One thing I could have done better is to be more careful when I was doing my printing so my mountains would come out clearer. If you want to make this here are the steps.

1. You draft your art on a piece of paper remember to do it in reverse so when you print they come out the right way.

2. With a pen draw your design onto the foam, You have to make sure you didn't dent your foam if you do then it will show up in your print.

3. Chose your colours and if they want to fade or not, you roll the paint over foam all the colours you want,  make sure the ink roller is practically drenched in ink if you want it to show up (otherwise it will look a bit like mine).

4. Once your pant is on the roller press it on paper and use a dry roller to the back and roll to get all the ink on the paper.

5. Peel the paper off the foam and you're done!!!

I did 2 pieces of artwork and thought my second one looked best, if you want to make a frame you need to get an A3 piece of card and cut out the size of an A4 piece of paper. Then stick it to the artwork.

Next time I would I would also put more paint and apply more pressure on the foam so that I wouldn't get white dots. Have you ever foam printed before? Did you enjoy it? I really liked doing this. What colours would you choose? I also liked the coloured blue and purple.

Have a good day bloggers!!

Hey Bloggers,

At school, we started to do STEAM, Which stands for Science, Technology Engineering, Arts and Maths. For our first task, we were challenged to make the egg not crake when we drop it from the mezzanine at our school. We were given a bunch of materials like Paper, cardboard paper, string and 2 bits of long tape. In the end, I think we did pretty good.

Have a good day,

Kei te pēhea te āhua o te rangi?

For the past few weeks we have been learning about, Kei te pēhea te āhua o te rangi? – How’s the weather? Some of the ways you can reply are,

paki         fine

wera         hot

makariri cold

hukapapa snowy

ua        rainy

marangai stormy

mākū          wet

tau te kohu foggy

pupuhi te hau windy (the wind is blowing)

You reply by going, Kei te ____ (insert your reply)

This took me a while to figure out how to make this because I haven't used scratch in a long time. I hope you like it,

I hope you enjoyed,have a good day!

Te Tiriti o Waitangi: A Maori History

Hey Bloggers, today we were finishing off the last of our topic study of  Te Tiriti o Waitangi, which was to create a timeline of events.  Using canva to search in the templates for timeline infographics.  Select a template you would like to use, then begin to alter it to be perfect for the information you are wanting to get across. Here were some of the main points we needed.

  • Māori were living in Aotearoa to themselves

  • All of the land and natural resources belonged to Māori

  • 1769 Captain Cook arrived in NZ

  • 1790 pāheka came to hunt seals and whales, cut trees and flax to sell elsewhere. Pakeha Missionaries spread Christianity across NZ

  • By 183o several hundred, Pakeha came to live in what they called NZ

  • 1831 - chiefs wrote to the King of England and asking for protection from the French

  • 28 October 1835 James Busby presented the document to chiefs at Waitangi - the Declaration of Independence

  • By 1840 52 chiefs had signed declaration of independence

  • Late January 1840 William Hobson arrived in the Bay of Islands

  • 6 Feb 1840 some chiefs ready to Sign Treaty

  • Over the next 7 months, in 1840, over 700 chiefs ‘signed’ the Treaty of Waitangi

  • Māori and the British fought the NZ land wars 1845-1872

  • 1865 Māori lost land through the Native Court System

  • 1906 James Carroll native Minister said time to help Māori who have lost land due to British people’s actions

  • 1975 Waitangi Tribunal set up to sort out disputes

Creative KOS

Today our Question for KOS ( Keeping ourselves safe):

Can you think of a time where you would be responsible for the safety of others? Some of the ideas were:

  1. Babysitting
  2. Preforming surgery
  3. Driving
  4. Cooking
  5. Road Patrol
Those where some of my Ideas, Our task was set by our teacher Mrs O, she said to read this comic it is called the night at the disco.

This Comic Is about two friends at a party they are both having a really good time. Then two girls come into the picture and talk to one of them. You can see that the girl that is left out is sad because the other kids are ironing her. The next image, it shows an image of the girls face our class had a conversation about how we think the girl looks like she has a problem with her eyes. Mrs O said from what she new it is called a lazy eye that is why the other kids are ignoring her. The next image shows the girls pulling her away but the girl is looking back at her friend with a hesitant face. The Next space is blank and we were to draw what we thought you would do it you were the girl getting pulled away. What would you do? Here is mine

As you can see I have coloured mine in and drawn in the box.
My Intention was to be a good friend and stay back with the girl, My teacher did point out to us what the consequences would be to your action. I think the consequences for mine would be both girls getting bullied. But I would only focus on being her friend and making sure she wasn't being hurt as well as I'm sure she would do the same for me.

Have you done a comic like this?

Anyway, have a good day!

Victorious Voki

**Before you watch the Voki ready the background info I wrote it will make more sense if you do.**

Hey, Bloggers how are you, this weeks post is about the treaty of Waitangi here is some background info. When the wars between Maori and the British came to a halt it was because both parties were going to sign an agreement, that agreement is now known as the treaty of Waitangi. Henry Williams and his son Edward were put on the task to translate the treaty overnight, of course, since they were not fluent in both languages they had to translate it to the best of their abilities.

With this treaty was translated there was a misunderstanding on a few things such as one the British version of the treaty is said that the British have Sovereignty over the land but on the Maori Version, it says that Maori has sovereignty over the land, and from there on there have been arguments on who ones the right of the sovereignty some say Maori some say British.

Kind KOS Poster

KOS is a program that is a government-funded program that teaches children how to be safe in any kind of situation where they would be in danger. It teaches them what to do and how to respond to any action someone or something makes. This program has been going on for a while now and is about teaching students a range of safe practices that they can use when interacting with other people, both online and face to face. Here is my poster on some scenarios and what you would do if you were in this situation?  I would call my parents or the police and try to get help if that option was not available. Has this happened to you? It hasn't to me and I am very grateful for that

Here is the story. Once you have read it my post will make more sense.

Have a good day!!!

Lego Portraits

Hey Bloggers, this year we did lego portraits. I found it a bit tricky to do this because I don't draw very often. I chose to draw a NASA hoodie because I wear my one a lot at home. I did have a bit of difficulty drawing the shoes but I got there in the end with the help of a teacher.

The shoes were meant to be Chuck Taylors. Do you think they look like Chuck Taylors? The facial expression was a bit hard to master but I settled on a simple smile.

The hair still looks a bit weird because I used a pencil and it doesn't cover up the template. I choose to use yellow skin like a normal lego person. I did jeans because I usually wear jeans at home and in public.

I think I could have improved on making the hair more accurate and covering the template, and by choosing a darker colour more suited to me. My favourite part about this portrait is the NASA hoddie because I want to work there someday and it is really comfy.

Do you have a lot of lego? I do but not as much as my friend, Do you use lego much? I don't but my little brother does, What would you wear as a lego person?

Anyway thanks for reading,

Bye bloggers!!
